Patients are always interested in the trends for plastic surgery and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. According to a recent survey conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), in 2017 a record number of people opted to have surgical and nonsurgical procedures.

There were 17.5 million surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures performed in the United States in 2017. This number represents a 2 percent increase over 2016. Breast reduction surgeries increased by 11% from 2016, and there were 2,000 more tummy tuck procedures performed in 2017 as well.

THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR THIS GROWTH:

  • The United States continued to have a healthy economy in 2017.
  • There is a continued desire on the part of baby-boomer patients to remain competitive in a youth-centric workforce.
  • Preventative anti-aging care is seen as very valuable for young and middle aged adults.
  • Procedural and technologic innovations are providing patients with more options in both surgical and minimally invasive procedures.
