Facelift surgery is never a one-size-fits-all or cookie-cutter procedure. Each patient’s face and how it ages is unique to the individual. As a result, a facelift is one of the most highly customized plastic surgeries, making your plastic surgeon’s credentials, skill, and experience vitally important. At Edina Plastic Surgery, we have taken our caliber of customization even further with our Full Focus Facelift. It includes the same high level of personalization as our traditional facelifts, with several added benefits to enhance our patient’s results. Here’s how a traditional facelift differs from the Full Focus Facelift at Edina Plastic Surgery.

“Over the decades, our surgical team has performed thousands of facelift surgeries,” says Dr. Robert Wilke, a board-certified plastic surgeon and partner at Edina Plastic Surgery. “This extensive experience has brought into focus the specific elements that collectively lead to excellent results. Frankly, many of those elements exist outside of the operating room, like how the health of a patient’s skin both before and after their surgery, directly impacts how they heal. We considered ALL of these elements when designing our all-inclusive Full Focus Facelift. This gold-standard facelift package is curated specifically to what your skin needs at each step of your surgical journey to ensure the absolute best outcome.”

What is a Traditional Facelift?

A traditional facelift, sometimes called a “full” or “classic” facelift, repositions the underlying soft tissue layers of the face to a more youthful anatomic position and tightens the skin.

“Contrary to what many patients believe, a classic facelift doesn’t just remove and tighten loose skin,” says Dr. Wilke. “By also addressing the deeper layers in the lift, a more natural outcome is achieved. Incisions are discretely placed along the hairline and around the contours of the ears to minimize the visibility of postsurgical scarring. This technique offers the greatest access to the underlying structures. A traditional facelift is ideal for patients who wish to address advanced signs of aging, such as jowling and sagging of the neck. A Full Focus Facelift offers everything a traditional facelift does and more.”

What is a Full Focus Facelift?

Traditional facelift surgery does an excellent job restoring a more youthful-looking appearance by tightening and lifting the muscles and skin of the face; however, it does not address the skin’s overall quality, including its texture and tone.

“Look at the Full Focus Facelift as a more wholistic approach to a facelift,” explains Dr. Wilke. “When I say wholistic, I mean that it addresses your skin’s quality as well as its appearance for a more 360-degree result. We’ve designed this unique approach to incorporate clinical skincare products, laser treatments, and the partnership of a Skin Artisans Advanced Practice Esthetician to help manage the health of your skin during your surgical journey. As a result, your skin won’t just be more lifted and tighter after surgery; it will be smoother, more even in tone, healthy, and luminous. Because the Full Focus Facelift actually preps your skin for surgery, your skin will also heal faster, and your results will last longer!”

What’s Included in the Full Focus Facelift Surgery Package?

“At Edina Plastic Surgery, we have the advantage and luxury of collaborating with industry skincare experts right across our waiting room in our medical spa, Skin Artisans,” says Dr. Wilke. “When a patient chooses to proceed with a Full Focus Facelift, their journey begins with a thorough consultation and skin analysis with a Skin Artisans Advanced Practice Esthetician. Based on their findings, they will recommend a regimen of eight clinical skincare products to help prep your skin so it is as healthy as possible before surgery and heals quickly and comfortably afterward.”

“Next, your Advanced Practice Esthetician will decide if laser skin treatments will be more beneficial to you before or after your surgery,” Dr. Wilke explains. “The Full Focus Facelift package includes a Sciton BBL and HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser Treatment. The BBL will focus on removing sun damage and help correct any uneven pigmentation. Your HALO™ treatment will help smooth and soften fine lines and wrinkles and immediately boost your skin’s collagen and elastin production. These laser treatments will either be scheduled four weeks before your surgery or six weeks after. This comprehensive combination of clinical skincare, laser treatments, and surgery rejuvenates your skin at every level for truly superior results.”

After a patient’s facelift surgery, the Full Focus Facelift also includes a refreshing shampoo treatment in Edina Plastic Surgery’s exclusive Hair Shampoo Treatment Room. This service is scheduled for the day after surgery to clean incisions and leave the scalp and hair feeling fresh and healthy.

“Since introducing the Full Focus Facelift as an option at our practice, more and more patients have chosen this route and have been ecstatic with their results and the excellent extension of care they receive,” shares Dr. Wilke. “This approach is a real partnership between the patient, their plastic surgeon, and their esthetician. The patient enjoys an unapparelled level of attention and care from start to finish that enhances their surgical results and their entire experience at Edina Plastic Surgery.”
