At Edina Plastic Surgery when we perform a mastopexy (breast lift) on someone with very large breasts, it is usually necessary to perform some reduction of the breast volume as well in order to optimally shape the breasts. In patients with relatively small breasts, we usually do not need to remove any glandular breast tissue, and often the breasts appear a bit larger than they did before surgery, simply because we are lifting the tissue and, in essence, bringing it together which makes the breast appear more full. When patients come in to our office for a free consultation their surgeon will take the time to carefully explain all of the options.
