Dr. Kelsey Baran is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible plastic surgeon dedicated to helping patients look and feel like the best version of themselves through refined, exceptionally natural-looking results. With more than eight years of surgical training and experience, she combines meticulous surgical technique with a warm, honest approach that allows her patients to feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout every step of their journey. As the newest member of Edina Plastic Surgery, she joins a team of board-certified plastic surgeons with more than 170 years of combined clinical experience.

Specializing in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery and body contouring, Dr. Baran believes exceptional plastic surgery should enhance—not change—a person’s natural beauty. She is committed to creating personalized treatment plans that align with each patient’s unique anatomy, lifestyle, and goals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and surgical precision.

A Journey to Plastic Surgery

Dr. Baran’s path to plastic surgery wasn’t a traditional one.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Puget Sound, she began her career working for a medical device company with plans to pursue business. It was during that time, while shadowing emergency medical professionals, that she discovered an unexpected passion for medicine.

She found herself drawn to the clinical complexity of patient care, the breadth of medical knowledge, and the fast-paced, collaborative nature of caring for patients. Inspired by those experiences, she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences before completing a rigorous five-year General Surgery residency at Berkshire Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year. She then completed advanced fellowship training in Plastic Surgery at the University of Florida, refining her expertise in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. 

While her artistic eye and meticulous attention to detail naturally drew her toward plastic surgery, it was the opportunity to help women regain confidence that ultimately confirmed she had found her calling. Whether helping a woman restore her confidence after breast cancer, pregnancy, weight loss, or simply feel more comfortable in her own skin, Dr. Baran finds tremendous fulfillment in combining technical precision with compassionate care. 

Education & Advanced Surgical Training

Dr. Baran earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, with a minor in Mathematics, from the University of Puget Sound before receiving her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences.

She completed a five-year General Surgery Residency at Berkshire Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident during her final year, before pursuing advanced fellowship training in Plastic Surgery at the University of Florida.

She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and is board eligible with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Originally from Minnesota, Dr. Baran is excited to return home and care for patients in the community where she feels most connected. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, skiing, camping, fishing, and exploring America’s National Parks. She also enjoys cooking, gardening, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Wild, and spending time with her two Labrador Retrievers, who happily accompany her on every adventure they can!
