Perioperative Nurse

With a career that spans over two decades, including multiple specialties of nursing and advanced degrees and credentials from some of the most prestigious institutions in the Midwest, Vera is a tremendous asset to the Edina Plastic Surgery team!

Vera’s medical career began in 1994 after she received her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing (BAN) from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. Her husband’s career with the Army relocated Vera and her family several times across the nation over the next twenty years. Each move provided Vera with unique opportunities to advance her training, enrich her experience, and heighten her versatility within multiple specialties of nursing.

During her time at the renowned Baylor Scott & White, the largest non-profit healthcare system in Temple, Texas, Vera worked in medical-surgical. After relocating to Louisville, Kentucky, she transitioned to working with children in the Pediatric Rehabilitation department at Jewish Hospital. Vera then went on to work in Labor and Delivery while her husband was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, and thenCollege Health at Colorado College, and Community Health and Urgent Care when her family relocatedback to Minnesota.  

As a Perioperative Nurse with Edina Plastic Surgery, Vera helps plan, carry out, and assess treatment for all of our patients undergoing surgery. She plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of each person before, during, and after their surgery. Vera’s diverse background and years of experience significantly enrich the quality and standard of care we can offer our patients. 

Realizing how unique her career pathway was, Vera developed a desire to share her knowledge with those aspiring to be nurses in the future, and she decided to broaden her career into teaching. Vera currently has a Master of Science in Nursing Education from St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul and is also a Certified Public Health Nurse. She has been a nursing professor in St. Paul since 2015 and continues to be an invaluable teacher, not only her students on campus but also her coworkers at Edina Plastic Surgery.

Outside of nursing and teaching, Vera loves spending time with her family and two golden retrievers. Her four children are heavily involved in sports, and Vera enjoys  attending their games and events. Her family loves to travel and spend time outdoors in beautiful Minnesota as well!
