Monica G.

Practice Manager, Plymouth

Monica’s extensive and diverse experience in the medical world is the result of several successful leaps of faith! After being a stay-at-home mom until all three of her children reached school age, Monica decided to re-enter the workforce. As fate would have it, this timing was in sync with the opening of Maple Grove Hospital. Although she did not come from a medical background at the time, Monica chose to step outside of her comfort zone and interview. Not only did she get a position, but Monica stayed with the hospital for twelve years, working four years in the ER and eight years as the Procedural Service Manager! This experience allowed her to work within several departments, including the ER, radiology, obstetrics, and infusion. Monica feels incredibly fortunate to have been exposed to so many different facets of medicine. She credits her experience at Maple Grove Hospital for catalyzing her love for the medical industry and her devotion to exceptional patient care.

In 2021, Monica decided to pivot her career and began working with Dr. Brian Kobienia at a prominent plastic surgery practice in Plymouth, MN. It was here that her love of the plastic surgery specialty truly blossomed. Monica became inspired by the bravery of patients who sought to elevate their confidence and enhance their lives with plastic surgery. It was also here that she developed an incredibly strong working relationship with Dr. Kobienia. So much so that they decided to branch out to start Kobienia Plastic Surgery in 2023 before it partnered with Edina Plastic Surgery in 2024!

Monica has a deep reverence for personal connections, especially regarding the patients she interacts with. She makes it a point to make every person she comes in contact with feel like they are the ONLY patient. In fact, one of the things Monica likes most about working with Edina Plastic Surgery is that we truly treat our patients like family and value the connection and closeness this fosters. Even though a plastic surgery clinic can be a very busy place, Monica always makes it a priority to slow down and take time with patients so they feel valued, cared for, listened to, and seen.

Hard work, dependability, and compassion are chief qualities that Monica applies to her everyday life, both in and out of the work environment. She feels fortunate to work with providers and a staff that share these attributes and consistently strive to deliver the absolute best in patient care. Monica is proud to support a team of surgeons who balance their exceptional surgical skills with a heightened artistic eye and amazingly warm and friendly bedside manners.

Monica loves spending time with her husband and three adult children outside of work. Her family also includes three dogs, whom she considers her “other,” albeit furry kids. Monica’s favorite hobby is searching for hidden treasures at garage sales, thrift stores, and flea markets!
