Kortney has felt drawn to the healthcare field for as long as she can remember. She has always enjoyed helping others, and the opportunity to do this in a hands-on medical environment intrigued her. After attending a career night and learning about the role and responsibilities of a Certified Surgical Technologist, Kortney knew she had found her career path!
What Kortney cherishes most about being a CST is the collaborative effort of an entire team coming together to ensure a patient’s best possible outcome. She finds it inspiring that her surgical team channels each of their unique skills, focuses them on a patient, and performs their role during surgery to transform that patient’s life.
The dedication she sees in Edina Plastic Surgery plastic surgeons and her co-workers motivates her to continuously expand her knowledge and skill base so she can deliver the highest caliber of care to the patients she works with. She loves working in an environment that has such a high standard of surgical excellence and precision, but still prioritizes treating each patient like a family member and not a number.
At the start of each work day, Kortney likes to imagine herself in each patients’ shoes whose surgeries she will be assisting in. She envisions how she would like to be treated and what would make her feel safe and comfortable. This exercise always puts her in the mindset of leading with compassion, focusing on the person behind the surgery, and celebrating the transformative journey each of our patients takes with us.
One of the things that Kortney likes best about working at Edina Plastic Surgery is the close-knit, family-like relationship the entire staff has. Everyone is helpful, kind, and unified in their passion for patient care. She believes this inclusive and caring culture transcends into how we care for patients and makes Edina Plastic Surgery unbelievably special.
When not assisting with surgeries at Edina Plastic Surgery, Kortney can be found enjoying a day out on the lake, boating with family and friends. She also adores the outdoors and is an avid camper and explorer. Kortney also loves music, especially country, and tries to attend a few live concerts each year.
