A Certified Nursing Assistant since the age of 16, Kayla has been drawn to the medical field for as long as she can remember. While pursuing a nursing degree in college, she became intrigued by the specialty of surgery after taking an anatomy class. Kayla fell in love with the complexity and intricacy of the human body and how the intervention of surgery could help correct, heal, and enhance a patient’s body and life. As a result, she rerouted her career path to obtain her associate’s degree, with honors, in Surgical Technology. Edina Plastic Surgery was thrilled to have Kayla join our team in 2020!
As a Certified Surgical Technologist, Kayla ensures that every step of your surgery in our operating suite is prepped for success and safety. She prides herself on being incredibly methodical and detail-oriented – traits that suit her position very well. Kayla has a great memory and loves using it to remember details about our patients’ lives and each of our surgeon’s operating room preferences to set them up for a smooth and successful surgery. Kayla is a firm believer in the philosophy of treating each patient with the respect and meticulous care that she would want for one of her family members to receive. She loves that the rest of her team shares this belief at Edina Plastic Surgery.
Kayla’s favorite surgery to assist with is Breast Reconstruction. She feels immense respect and admiration for women who have battled cancer. Although she believes in the power of plastic surgery to empower all of our patients, she especially loves being part of the journey to helping a breast cancer survivor regain her confidence and feel great about the way she looks again.
One of the things that Kayla likes best about her Edina Plastic Surgery team is that we are a smaller group and very close-knit. After working in environments that had her assisting different physicians every day and floating between multiple specialties, Kayla believes our smaller, more intimate group can deliver a superior patient experience. Our team has a joint mission and mindset to achieve excellence with every surgery we perform.
Kayla’s compassion for others carries into her home life. She and her husband are absolute dog lovers and have recently added two canine rescue companions to their family. Kayla is also a music lover, plays the guitar, and has a quickly expanding vinyl collection. She strives to give purpose to everything she does in life and to consistently act for the good of others.
