All Edina Plastic Surgery physicians are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and are active members of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons. They also have surgical privileges at major metropolitan hospitals. To stay current on medical advancements, they teach at the University of Minnesota, are fellows of The American College of Surgeons and are active with numerous professional organizations.

William Carter (Emeritus)
Dr. Carter founded Edina Plastic Surgery in July 1977. A past president of the Minnesota Society of Plastic Surgeons, he has been active in medical staff activities throughout his career. He is committed to community service through the efforts of the Salvation Army, Rotary International and Interplast. Dr. Carter received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and served his residency at the University of Wisconsin.
Nathan Leigh
Dr. Leigh joined Edina Plastic Surgery in July 1990. He is a competitive swimmer and holds a world record in Masters' Swimming. Dr. Leigh attended the University of North Dakota and received his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He performed a plastic surgery fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Los Angeles, California, and was a resident in plastic surgery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.


Michael Philbin
Dr. Michael Philbin joined Edina Plastic Surgery, Ltd. in 2001 following a move from Madison, Wisconsin. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has practiced since 1996. He is recognized as "Top Doc" by Madison Magazine 2000.
Robert Wilke

Dr. Wilke joined Edina Plastic Surgery in 1997. He earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Over the next seven years he completed residencies in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Wilke regularly travels with Interplast to underprivileged countries to perform reconstructive procedures on children.
